The Rooms
Both rooms have been completely re-done to enhance the quality
of your stay. Re-cycled wooden floors and new wainscoting are in keeping
with the age of the house, as are the soft, subtle tones of Farrow and
Ball paints on the walls and the old painted furniture pieces. Brand
new beds and luxurious all cotton linens provide a perfect prelude to
the best possible retreat of all - uninterrupted, rejuvenating, quality
sleep. In winter our guests curl up in all cotton flannel bedding and
fluffy quilts. Both rooms have small 'borrow and exchange' bookshelves
as well as a reference shelf of local maps and histories, bird and vegetation
books. Menus from island restaurants, information on local farms and
other sights, as well as bike and kayak rentals are also present. Small
vases of our own garden flowers add to the friendliness of the rooms. The Blue Room is large and airy with a queen-size brass bed
and en-suite with shower. The watery colour of the room is reflected
in original seascapes and a subtle boating theme. French doors along
the entire sea side of the room open out onto the terrace where guests
can enjoy their breakfast on sunny summer mornings, read in afternoon
shade or sit and gaze up at the star-scattered heavens at night. In
winter the cozy room invites guests to put their feet up, read and
relax in comfortable chairs around the warmth and crackle of an upright
Godan wood stove. Bring a puzzle or your knitting and enjoy the quiet
of a deliciously long afternoon with no commitments or interruptions
in the comfort of a soothing, restful space. The Blue Room has an ensuite
bathroom with shower, and a comfortable sofa/bed can accommodate an
additional friend or family member.
The Blue Room $125
The Yellow Room $135
This warm, sunny room is actually two rooms, a bedroom with a queen-size bed and a sitting room with breakfast table and lounge. The large comfortable bed with natural fiber bedding is the focus of the bedroom where the view to the water is enjoyed from your pillows. Original watercolour landscapes and old period painted pieces furnish the room which has its own exterior door and a door to the adjoining sitting room. The story of the house is told through photographs on the walls of the sitting room - its origin on Fairview Slopes in Vancouver and its journey by barge to Mayne Island. The sitting room french doors open onto the terrace and the surrounding garden. The comfortable sofa/bed can accommodate an additional friend or family member in the privacy of the separate room. This room has its own large bathroom complete with tub and shower.
